CONDEMINAL is Chantal Vielle-Condeminal’s private wine line, created in honor of her family members, wine producers in France.
In 2005, Chantal and her husband John du Monceau settled down in the Uco Valley (province of Mendoza, Argentina). Together, they created the wine-making cellar Atamisque. In 2014, Chantal decided to pay tribute to her ancestors by creating her own wines: CONDEMINAL was born.
Alfred Condeminal (1856 – 1918), Chantal’s great grandfather and owner of the castle of Belleverne (Chapelle de Guinchay, Beaujolais), produced various local names such as the so-called “Moulin-à-Vent”. As a local personality in the wine business, he also remained in the collective memory for his fight against phylloxera and his use of anti-hail cannons. His marriage in 1884 gave him four daughters, one of whom was Louise Condeminal. This latter got married with Edouard Vielle and together, they took over the family vineyard.
Jean Vielle, Chantal Vielle-Condeminal’s father, worked in the winemaking business too. He was a reputed wine trader in both Switzerland and Belgium.
It is based on this winemaking tradition that Chantal decided to make her own wine line, using her family’s last name: CONDEMINAL.
