Vineyard information: Finca Rio Seco: vineyards located at 1,700 meters above sea level in Cafayate Valley, Salta. Vertical vine training. Low yield of 6 tons/hectare. Age of vineyard: 13 years

Production: 6,600 bottles. Cold pre-fermentative maceration (4 days at 5°C). Alcoholic fermentation for 14 days. Post- fermentative maceration for 15 days. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation.

Aging: 6 to 8 months in second hand French and American oak barrels

Aging potential: 6 years

Colour: Intense, vivacious ruby-red with violet tones

Aroma: Spicy, red and black fruits such plum, figs and notes of spices like black pepper and clove

Mouth: A nice, sweet entry due to the good polyphenolic ripeness, excellent balanced acidity and a long, harmonious finish

El Porvenir – Family Winery

The Romero Marcuzzi family took its first steps in the wine world when Roberto Romero started his first winery four decades ago in Tolombón, a few kilometers from Cafayate.

There, among the vineyards and long family summers, began the development of the pillars of the current project: a strong commitment to the site, the highest dedication to the work and a great love and respect for the terroir that has grown through the years. It was in that first winery that Lucía, grand daughter of Roberto Romero and today Director of El Porvenir de Cafayate, took her first steps.

“In the year 2000 we decided to create a new project with a more exclusive target market, designing a premium winery to make very high quality wines. With this clear objective, we acquired an old winery that we brought up to date with investments in infrastructure and technology, at the same time successfully restoring the 50 year-old Torrontés and Tannat vineyards. During that period we also planted Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah vines (among other varietals) in a new vineyard.”

Today, the winery based in Cafayate is managed by Lucía Romero- Marcuzzi, who works with a distinguished team following the legacy of their ancestors with a remarkable innovative spirit.
